We are thrilled to be back for a few days in the mountains, before we head to the bay area for Thanksgiving. The mountains haven't lost their beauty.

Jacpot Acts Like a Cat and Sometimes Just Crazy

We always enjoy our morning runs especially when we watch the sunrise up on the hills.

Here's the crazy part...

Jacpot Goes Trick or Treating In Morro Bay.

We spent Halloween weekend in Morro Bay with the White's and Teresa, and had a great time. The weather was perfect for a couple of runs on the beach, and lunch at the Hofbrau and "Pirate Restaurant" in Cayucos. The most fun was walking around with Jennie (Dr White the vet) and Jacob (John Lennon) going trick or treating. Jacpot was Jennie's patient and therefore didn't have to spend much time dressing up as a dog. We put a bowl of candy out at the cabin, and the five of us watched Jacob, Jennie and Jacpot go trick or treating.... by the way, they give away great candy in Morro Bay, but not many bones.

Jacpot Eyes Bunny Hill From Afar

After slipping on the wet stairs at work earlier this week and hurting my shoulder, it hurts to run. Since we can't run up to the top of Bunny Hill, the best Jacpot can do is look at it (can you see the bushes in the shape of a bunny?) from the school we play at.

Jacpot Watches Sunrises And Chocolate

The weather report says it is going to cool down this week so perhaps we can go running in the hills in the afternoon some. Currently we leave the house while it is dark, but we definitely don't mind getting to watch the beautiful sunrises as we run along the top hills.

The White's came over to have pizza and swim this weekend.

Unfortunately Jacpot was deprived of the chocolated fountain we dipped into for dessert.

Jacpot Eyes His Running Buddy From Far Away

It's always an extra special run for Jacpot when we run into "Little Cindy" out on a training run for her cross country team.

Even with Cindy way out in the distance, he can tell it is her.

Jacpot went down the hill to say hello and run up with her.

As soon as Cindy arrives... Jacpot goes with her as if I don't even exist.

Jacpot Goes To Morro Bay For Labor Day

On Friday, we made the last minute decision to go to Morro Bay for the three day weekend. The Hursts were able to join us at a moments notice, and since Frank & Kim are now living on the coast they were able to join us.

We got to Morro Bay early enough on Friday to frolic on the beach....

And enjoy the sunset.

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were full of jogs on the beach,lunch and shopping on the Embarcadero, Art in the park, and more sunsets...

Jacpot Takes It Easy With The Fires Nearby

There is a large fire in the San Gabriel Forest nearby and the air quality has been poor. The morning air isn't too bad so Cindy is still able to go to the park with Jacpot in the morning to play with all of his friends. While at the park, Cindy also took a couple of pictures of the smoke that would otherwise be a sunny sky.

Jacpot Stays Home and Chris Goes on a Lonely Run

In the last year and a half Jacpot has kept me company on all of my runs except for a few, and today was one of those. With the temperature at 101 degrees I decided it was a little too hot to take Jacpot for a run in the desert with me. Since I went back to work, Cindy has been taking Jacpot to the park in the mornings where he visits with all of his dog and people friends. Jacpot also plays ambassador and says hello to anyone that is new and encourages a game of frisbee. Unfortunately Cindy is not good about taking the camera so I have no pictures.

Jacpot also wants to say congratulations to Jennie who just got her black belt last night. Now both Jennie and Jacob both have black belts and they are not even out of elementary school... Jacpot is impressed.

Finally, we are excited for good buddy Jeff Mitchell for being 95% completed with his book about the near death experience of his old friend in the Alaskan waters, and he has a new blog From The Wing To The Wedge.. We are looking forward to reading Jeff's book after it is published.

Jacpot Relaxes With The Seals

Jacpot and Chris had a nice Sunday morning run and watched the sunrise over the Antelope Valley. After the run Cindy and Chris drove to Channel Islands to visit brother Eric and Cherie and the four of us rode out to Anacapa Island on their Seadoos. Eric and Cherie pulled a couple kayaks behind them so that we could paddle through the arch and a few sea caves. Jacpot was officially on the run but unofficially joined us out at Anacapa Island with the help of Photoshop.
