Jacpot Thinks... Life Is Good

When an adventure is such a good time, Jacpot doesn't mind a little redundancy. We headed back out for our early morning run and swim at Pinecrest Lake. I snapped the picture of Cindy's sock that already went with what we knew.

Jacpot Gets Back To Cold Springs

Our first full day at the cabin started at sunrise for Cindy, Jacpot, and Chris to get to Pinecrest for an early morning run around the lake followed by a swim.
This is almost halfway around the lake... you can see the bridge we cross in the background.

Jacpot was very happy to get back to the lake.

Jacpot Gets Re-injured

Jacpot has a good size cut on his back paw. We aren't sure if this wound was re-opened from his injuries a few weeks ago or occurred somewhere on one of our runs in the desert, playing at the park, etc.

At sunrise this morning Cindy and I explored out near Edwards Air Force Base and Jacpot has been put on bed (couch) rest as much as possible until his paw heals. We are leaving for the mountains in a couple of days so we are hoping he will be able to go on some good fresh air hikes and runs soon.

Jacpot is not happy he has to stay behind.

An abandoned Jet on Edwards Air Force Base.

Nice scenery of Joshua Trees the further you get from the city.

We stopped at an old school that was in use since the early part of the 1900's.

Jacpot Appreciates Companies Spelling

Not many people (or dogs) spell the name Jack without the "k" so the while we were out shopping at PetSmart today the name on the truck caught our attention (click on the picture if you can't read it well).

Jacpot Doesn't Mind The Wind

The Antelope Valley has been windy for about a week now, and although it gets annoying to most of us, the wind doesn't bother Jacpot on runs. The video below gives a feel of the wind on top of Bunny Hill. Also, on our run today as Jacpot and I were cresting the top of a hill, two coyotes were coming straight at us about 50 feet away. By the time I put the leash on Jacpot and got the camera out of my pocket they had already run away.

Jacpot Heals

After playing frisbee at the park at sunrise and then meeting for breakfast with the guys (it's good to be on summer vacation) I took a good look at Jacpot's pads on his paws. Two weeks after tearing up his pads at the Memorial Weekend Party I decided his paws had healed enough to try a run in the hills. I am pleased to report Jacpot did great and had no problem handling the terrain. Below we take a water break at the halfway point.

Jacpot Visits Roxie and Fifa

Today I called Ricky to see if we could bring Jacpot over to meet Roxie and Fifa. More importantly I have been wanting to go over to work on one of Jacpot's issues, that's right I admit Jacpot is not perfect. Jacpot does very well walking on a leash but the moment he gets near another dog, or a person gets too close, he lunges on the leash, not to attack, but to play. After working on Jacpot paying attention to me rather than Roxie and Fifa for a while, we then let them play together.

Roxie and Fifa wonder who this crazy dog is.

Jacpot and Roxie get to know each other.

Molly gets in the shot with the three dogs.

Jacpot Makes A Fashion Statement

Now that I am on Summer Vacation, Jacpot is ready to go on many adventures. Unfortunately when we go out for coffee, or for exercise at the park it seems to be one step forward two steps backward. Jacpot's paws are still tender from the party that was too much fun.

Hopefully we'll be back out running in the hills shortly but for now we are working on our wardrobe.... see below.
