Jacpot Runs With The Coyotes

Okay, so the title is a little misleading. This morning on our run while coming back along the aqueduct I saw a couple of coyotes getting a drink quite a ways ahead. I don't think Jacpot ever saw them, but it was still a little like he was out running with the coyotes.... kinda?

If you click on the picture below to enlarge it, you may be able to see two figures down by the curve in the aqueduct... those are coyotes.

Jacpot takes a water break on top of Bunny Hill.

Below is another sign of the housing problems. The builder spent millions of dollars putting in roads, sewer, and leveling the ground for houses back in the hills away from civilization where we run. Last month it came out the builder has filed for bankruptcy protection.

Taking a rest on Jacpot Rd. in the Town of Jacpotville.

Here's a picture that Dave just sent me of Jacpot and me out kayaking on the lake near our cabin this summer. (photo by Ann)

Jacpot Visits the College Roommates and families

Cindy, Jacpot, and I took a trip to Thousand Oaks to have dinner with the college roommates, wives, and kids.

Jacpot and Mark have a conversation while Casey pets their dog Tinkerbelle.

Bob, Mark, Lynne, David, and Susie relax before dinner with appetizers.

Jacpot and Tinkerbelle had a great time playing all evening.

The next morning we got up early so I could run in a 25k at Malibu Creek State Park (they filmed M.A.S.H. there) and Jacpot and I wait in the McDonald's parking lot while Cindy goes in to get us some coffee.

Just before the race it was a nice overcast cool morning.

While I was running Cindy and Jacpot drove into Malibu and played at a park. Jacpot takes a rest on the bench afterwards.

Coming into the final mile, the sun is out and I'm a little tired, but feeling good.

I was hoping to finish under 3 hours as you can see by the time in the picture that was accomplished. The background shows Bulldog hill we had to climb which was on mostly fire roads and some single track.

It's Tuesday so Jacpot Must Be At Rubios

Now that I am back to school I don't run until the afternoons and it is lonely not having Jacpot with me. The weather is a little too hot for him in the afternoon, but he does make it to the dog park with Cindy most mornings, she's just not very good about taking the camera. Had another nice time walking around Pet Smart and then over to Rubios for the $1.25 fish tacos. Someone had left some "trash" at the table so I threw it away. About 20 minutes later they came back looking for there to go order they had accidentally left behind... oops. Turns out I knew them from my old school where I used to teach, so we at least had a nice chat.

Jacpot's Weekend

This weekend was a little slow as we stayed in Palmdale and relaxed. Saturday evening Cindy, Jacpot and I went to Home Depot, 99 cent store, Pet Smart, and then Pick Up Stix. Jacpot had to settle for water and a bone while we ate Chinese food outside on the patio. We stopped by and visited our friends at the park where the dogs outnumber the people. Jacpot is hogging the water bowl sitting next to Pete in the blue tank top.

Millie poses for a picture.

Sunday morning Jacpot and I ran 8 miles in the hills and were lucky enough to run not only with a beautiful sunrise but also a full moon.

Jacpot Stays Home While We Cruise S.F. Bay

We spent the day on Jim, Tim, and Uncle Mikes yacht last Sunday. The family had a great time together and it was a great way to say goodbye to Cindy's grandma Helen.

Look closely and you can see one of the kayaks has a dog.

Jim, Tim, Myriam, and Greg having lunch.

The Haywards hanging out towards the front of the ship.

Jacpot would have had fun playing with this guy.

Cindy and I enjoying the view.

A great lunch. Lamb, chicken, and steak were all wonderful, but the homemade cheesecake the chef makes was the best!

Cindy, Jerry, and Greg.

Jacpot goes running with Bethany

Bethany (Cindy's cousin) and Manny arrived last night so Jacpot and I gave her the 5:30 a.m. wake up knock to go running. Bethany, Cindy, Jacpot, and I had a great time running up to Bunny Hill while watching the sun come up.

Jacpot goes to Rubio Tuesday

We had a nice dinner at Rubios. Since the fish tacos are only $1.25 on Tuesday we are going to try and go more often. Perhaps some of our Palmdale friends will want to join us next time.

Jacpot returns to the Mountains

We had another great time at the cabin with the Shores and Labrenzes. Cindy, Jacpot, and I ran around the lake almost every morning and then Jacpot went swimming for a while. Jacpot had a great time playing in the river at Kennedy Meadows in the swift river water, Christi took some pictures and I should get them one day. Other activities included 9 of us mountain biking from Fraser Flat Campground to Strawberry and back except Jacpot and I ran, again I forgot to bring a camera but Mark took a picture at the beginning.
The three of us have a Subway Sandwich in Sonora after a day of going to some Thrift Stores and getting some groceries.

Jacpot fetches a stick in the lake after one of our many morning runs around Pincecrest Lake.

Jacpot finds a rock to stand on out in the lake.

Cindy and Teresa came along on a run up Bunny Hill after we returned home to Palmdale.

Cindy, Teresa, and Jacpot jogging along the trails.

Patiently waiting to get his picture taken before continuing the run as the sun rises.
